The Day Drawing Near

"The great paradox is that God uses imperfect people who are humble, repentant and faithful to be the ones He uses to share His message."

Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do. I feel like giving up or throwing in the towel.  Results aren’t always visible, and times of discouragement or doubt come.  In my job, in my personal life…maybe you’ve felt like this at times too?

One truth…I always return to. Like a homing beacon for my soul. What does it matter in the end?  What is this all for? That Glorious Day! Where people from every tribe and language and people and nation will be. That glorious day is coming where we will worship God together!

The revelation to John confirms to me that I don’t labor in vain,

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.”

And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power. Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever! (Revelation 5:9,13)

Or Philippians 2:9-11

Therefore, God elevated him (Jesus) to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Missions has been God’s idea from the very beginning. From creation to eternity, God’s plan is for all nations to worship Him!  Genesis to Revelation reveals God’s plan is for His name and fame to spread to all nations.

The great paradox is that God uses imperfect people who are humble, repentant and faithful to be the ones He uses to share His message. I can labor knowing that glorious day is coming (could be today!) and my role is to be faithful and obedient. John Piper is famously quoted for saying “Missions exists because worship does not”, but he also clarifies that “Missions is realizing that there are cultures and linguistic groups that do not have anyone to speak the gospel to them.”  Will you pray that God will raise up men and women willing to cross cultures and languages to share their faith in the name of Jesus?

The Center for Missions Mobilization has a great 30-day challenge for you to take a month long journey through God’s Word to see for yourself how missions was His plan from the beginning.  From Abraham, David, Paul, and John we see that God’s purpose is that all people groups will be represented in His kingdom.
