West Africa: Good News Clubs

Project #72044
Africa

In many parts of West Africa, children grow up with little opportunity to hear about Jesus or engage with the Bible in a meaningful way. In these communities, there is often little Christian presence and few resources that help families encounter the message of Jesus. Yet children are often open, curious, and eager to learn when given the chance. They can become a natural point of connection for their families and communities to also learn about Christ.

The West Africa Good News Clubs project seeks to come alongside these children by creating safe, consistent spaces where they can learn about God’s love through age-appropriate Bible lessons. For many of the children involved, this will be their first introduction to the gospel. Without intentional outreach, they may never hear the name of Jesus or understand the hope offered through Him. These clubs are designed to meet that need in a thoughtful way, offering biblical teaching that is engaging, relational, and culturally appropriate.

Over the course of two years, we plan to establish 20 Good News Clubs in least-reached communities. Each club will meet weekly and include Bible stories, songs, games, Scripture memorization, and prayer. Through this consistent presence, the project aims to reach at least 2,500 children. At the same time, 40 local Christian volunteers will be trained and supported to lead the clubs, ensuring the ministry is carried out by believers who know the language, culture, and community.

Existing churches will play a key role in this effort by providing volunteers and helping build long-term connections with families. More than 1,000 Gospel-centered resources will also be shared with children and households.

As these clubs take root, we expect their impact to extend beyond the children who attend each week. Families will be welcomed into ongoing relationships, local believers will be equipped and encouraged, and churches will be strengthened through active participation in outreach. Over time, the Good News Clubs will serve as a pathway for deeper discipleship, new faith communities, and a lasting gospel presence in places where the light of Christ has been absent.
