Project #60290

The Church in Latin America is becoming a major player in world missions and is sending its own missionaries to the least-reached areas of the world. Avant’s Global Engagement department was established three years ago to develop hubs in the Global South (Latin America, Africa, and Asia) to facilitate and enable local churches to send their own missionaries to reach the unreached around the world.

In 2021 Avant Español was officially launched and is actively working with local churches to prepare and send their missionaries.  Already 15 new missionary members have been appointed through Avant Español to serve among the nations.

While God is calling churches and missionaries from Latin America to reach the least reached, there is much to be done to prepare these churches to effectively send missionaries. Churches in Canada and the U.S. benefit enormously from generations of sending experience as well as endless missions resources and trainings in English. Few churches in Latin America have this experience and they struggle to find any helpful resources in Spanish.

Avant is addressing both of these critical needs. Our web platform, ObreroFiel. com (faithful laborer) provides a direct connection to more than 200,000 church leaders from every country in Latin America. We recently launched a missional church network that offers ongoing training, new resources, and pastors’ forums online for interested church leaders. We've also created a mentoring program for missionary candidates in Spanish to help them verify their calling and provide guidance through mentorship by experienced missionaries. A number of key books have been published in Spanish to challenge church leaders in missional realities and to equip missionaries for effective service.

In the next year, we plan to edit and distribute five new books for missional church leaders as well as launch an “online tool kit” providing church leaders practical resources to develop their missional vision among their congregations.

Annual goal for this project $118,000
