MK Bridge Fund

Project #72023
Global Member Care

For many missionary kids (MKs), life is a constant cycle of change. They grow up in one country, often feeling deeply connected to that place and its culture, yet their passport ties them to another. The transition between these worlds—whether it’s returning to their parents’ field of service or re-entering their passport country—can be challenging and disorienting. That’s where the MK Bridge Fund comes in.

Imagine being a college student, thousands of miles away from the only home you’ve ever known. Your family is still abroad, but financial constraints make a visit nearly impossible. The MK Bridge Fund is designed to change that. It’s a dedicated financial resource aimed at easing these transitions, ensuring that young adult MKs don’t have to navigate them alone.

One of the most common factors that leads to missionary attrition is the transition of their children into adulthood. Helping young adult children successfully launch into college or a career is daunting under any circumstances, but when that must happen across borders and possibly several time zones, it’s even harder. The care that Avant will offer our MKs through this fund could be key for many of our missionaries to feel they can continue serving on the field knowing their children are well supported and cared for.

With an annual budget of $15,000, the MK Bridge Fund will allow Avant’s college-aged MKs to apply for financial help for a re-entry program when transitioning back to their passport country and one return trip to their parents’ field of service.

For MKs, returning to their parents’ field of service isn’t just about travel, it’s about reconnecting with home, experiencing closure, and strengthening family bonds. Likewise, re-entry programs provide critical support as MKs adjust to a country that may feel foreign despite their citizenship. Through the MK Bridge Fund we can bridge the financial gap and provide the support these young adults need to thrive wherever God places them.
