Middle East: Gospel to the Unreached

Project #72022
Church Planting Middle East

Our workers in the Middle East and eight local believers have begun an effective outreach to a people group that has historically been difficult to reach with the gospel. As defined by the Joshua Project, this group is a frontier people group, meaning fewer than 0.1% profess to be Christian, and they have almost no chance of hearing the Good News from someone within their group.

Our workers and their team make weekly visits to the villages, going home to home offering families a bag of food as well as a New Testament and the Jesus Film. The gifts have never been refused and most people invite them in, opening the door for them to share the gospel.

After each visit, the team asks if they can return for another visit. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. They have a growing list of regular house visits where they have opportunities to share the gospel. Some have responded in faith and by God’s grace, four Bible studies are taking place in four villages! God is working powerfully among these people and there are still hundreds of villages to reach with the gospel.

Avant has started a project to expand this outreach to more villages. The project will support house-to-house evangelism, supplying the gifts of food, medicine, a Bible, and the Jesus Film, and cover transportation costs for the team as they travel throughout the region. The project will also support a new initiative to reach the young people for Christ through an outreach center.

We hope to reach at least 20 villages with the gospel through this project. Our long-term goal and prayer is that these outreach efforts will lead to the first church plant among this people group in the region.
