Bolivia: Seminary Campus Remodel

Project #71998
Bolivia Latin America Theological Education

Bolivia is South America’s poorest country. Hunger, homelessness, disease, and distress run rampant through Bolivia’s streets. Many struggle to have their basic needs met, leaving people little time to prioritize spiritual things.

Despite these immense challenges, the gospel is advancing in Bolivia. According to Joshua Project, the yearly evangelical growth rate in Bolivia is 4.6%, which is 2% higher than the global average. One of the greatest needs for new believers and the Bolivian Church is the training of leaders and Bible teachers who will be raised up to shepherd the church in the Truth.

Hebron Theological Seminary in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, sees the biblical imperative to train God’s servants thoroughly and has been doing so since 1953. Graduates of Hebron leave with a deep understanding of the Bible and skills to teach others. The quality education students receive helps them combat the confusion, false teachings, and even cults that arise and spread quickly in this country.

With only 45% of its annual budget coming in from tuition, Hebron Theological Seminary relies on outside financial support to sustain its campus and programs. In an effort to become more self-sustaining, Hebron plans to refurbish the second floor of their office building and turn it into rental spaces. Five office spaces and one executive conference room will be created to be rented by local churches and other Christian ministries. This will provide a steady stream of supplemental income to support seminary operations.

Avant is partnering with Hebron to raise funds for this renovation project. Generating this alternative income will free up Hebron staff to invest more deeply in their students, and will keep their doors wide open to train more leaders, pastors, and cross-cultural workers to plant and develop churches all over the world.
