Global South Missionary Launch
In the Global South, which includes countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, developing and sending missionaries is a new initiative for most churches. Avant now has appointees from the Global South who have recently completed our first Spanish-language orientation and are now raising their support to serve as missionaries around the world.
The process of raising start-up and on-going support for North American missionaries can be difficult. But Latin American missionaries face an even greater challenge raising support.
The COVID-19 pandemic caused great economic pain there, with the loss of 30 million jobs in five countries with the largest economies. Economic reports indicate that the world’s greatest poverty now exists in South America as a result of the pandemic. People in Latin American have not received much, if any, economic relief from their governments.
Avant has established a fund for the Global South Missionary Launch that helps new missionaries with their one-time, outgoing expenses. The fund will be available for airfare, visas, furnishings, language studies, and other initial expenses. Helping them with start-up support will get them to the field sooner. Your financial partnership will make it possible for our Global South missionaries to fulfill their call to missions.
